Ten years ago in San Diego, I was drugged by someone I knew, went into psychosis, and was kidnapped in Tijuana. For three days, my brain built a whole separate identity to get me through it. I even gave her a new name.
That's an extreme form of dissociation. I've spent the past 10 years working to heal from it.
Survival can look like something nobody else would understand. Healing is still possible.
